St. Kilda Beach Hotel||+ Location is great, jsut a few meters walk to the beach, to convenience stores, restraurants, bars, and tram||+ Checkin process and checkout are smooth with helpful staff||+ all the frontdesk people were very helpful …
I’m giving 5 stars because with the bad reviews I wasn’t expecting much.
Standouts was the soundproofing on street rooms. Really good
We had great coffee in the cafe downstairs with delightful service. The food I saw going out looked fine but probably not the most innovative cuisine you’ll find in St Kilda. Location amazing.
Yes the parking is tight and expensive but better than not having parking like some hotels. All up was a pleasant surprise. I like the hall lights go out when no one around and come on with activity.
More hotels should be this pro active with power waste that is very high in hotels generally
Well done 👍
My wife and I read so many reviews giving this place a bit of a bad reputation. Our experience (thankfully) was nothing like what we had read online.
The service staff were lovely, friendly and always made sure to greet us whenever we entered/exited the building. Our room was upgraded from a twin bedroom to a queen bedroom due a booking error made on our part for no additional charge.
Amenities were clean and tidy and the place smelled nice, apart from the slow elevator there really isn’t anything wrong with this hotel, great location and a wide variety of restaurants and bars to explore at night and so close to public transport to travel elsewhere this place is a great destination for tourists to Melbourne.
Someone is really making an effort to provide a great experience with lovely mattress, bedding, towels, excellent breakfast and fab service. Very very clean.|But the tired fittings really let it down. Looks like renovation is happening.
I really enjoyed my stay at the St Kilda Beach Hotel. The location is superb - 5 minutes walk to beach - 2 minutes walk to tram -walking distance to all St Kilda has to offer. The staff were friendly and professional. The room was lovely and clean, the bed was comfortable. There were lovely trees outside my window. Free coffee voucher for the cafe which served the most delicious scrambled eggs, roast cherry tomatoes and mushrooms. The hotel felt very secure with keycard access required for front door after 7pm and for lifts. There is a little outdoor area on the top floor which I took advantage of to view the sunrise. You can also see part of the city skyline from there. I loved the lifts which is a strange thing for a claustrophobic person to say but lift 1 is a very cleverly designed illusion when it opens of St Kilda pier which made the lift seem larger than it was. From curiosity I had to check out lift 2 and laughed when it opened to show the entrance to Luna Park. Thanks for a lovely experience.
This hotel has its pluses but I can only give it three stars.
I'll start with the positives. It's in a good location, almost directly adjacent to the light rail stop that takes you into the city. You can get a $10 discount off your (reasonably priced) breakfast if you choose not to have your towels changed if staying more than one night. We were given some complimentary shortbreads with our breakfast as it was near Christmas. The staff were courteous.
The negatives. The hotel looks tired and run down. You can even see it on Google street view. Our room was not dirty as such, but felt like it was in need of a makeover. It was not pleasant.
The on site parking was, in my opinion, expensive - $35 a day. (By way of comparison, the week before, I stayed at the Jasper hotel in the city, which charged $29 a day.)
The car park, which you enter from the street at the back of the hotel, is very tight, particularly if you have a medium or larger size car. There are two levels - the ground entry level and the basement. The turn you need to take going to the basement is very tight; so tight I gave up. I'm sure it can be done, but it can take several attempts, and it's not what you need when tired after driving all day. I squeezed into a tight spot on the ground level instead (actually my wife did!).
There's no dedicated short term parking at the front for drop offs and pick ups like at some other hotels. There is on street parking and it can get busy. I suggest you go directly to the on site parking entrance and notify reception of your arrival via the intercom at the security gate.
Friendly staff good room. Good location. Value for money only cost me $ 95 plus 35 for parking One thing they can improve is their lifts
Location was great for our needs ,
Service was ok from the girls at the reception, Rooms were average for the the price we paid , old rooms ,has bath tub but no plug , restaurant was a hit and miss ,no room service ,not set up for elderly or disabled ,no sound barrier can hear everything from next door ( in witch the neighbours partied till 2am on the 1st night of our stay ) very disappointing!!
I’m sure there are better deals out there if you shop around
